2012 Toyota Corolla

The 2012 Toyota Corolla is so far the best conservative driving experience we have had in the new decade. With the release of the 2012 model, Toyota managed to overshadow all the older versions of the Corolla.

Design and Engine

The 2012 Toyota Corolla is designed to be a 5-passenger with a four-door sedan. It’s design will appeal to loyal buyers, and is an extension of the sedan style introduced for the 2009 Toyota Corolla as a part of Corolla’s 10th design generation. The Toyota Corolla will again come in the Base L, LE, and S trims, with the LE and S trims having extra features.

The 2012 Toyota Corolla has a wheelbase of 102.4 inch, which increases passenger space. It comes equipped with standard 15-inch steel wheels, sporty body spoilers, and aerodynamic add-ons. It features a 1.8 liter engine that can produce 132 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions. There is also a second option engine that includes a 2.4 liter engine that is able to produce 158 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. Both the LE and S models offer 16 inch steel wheels as well as Color-keyed power heated outside mirrors and other features. Outside features of the S model include Multi-reflector halogen headlamps with black housing, integrated fog lamps, Color-keyed front and rear underbody spoilers, sport side rocker panels, unique S badge and rear mudguards and a Chrome-tipped exhaust.

The 2012 Toyota Corolla gets an impressive 28/35 mpg under its five-speed manual transmission and 26/34 mpg with the four-speed automatic transmission. It is priced at $16,300 with a variety of standard features which make this the car to buy (especially if under tighter budgets).

Interior
Interior features of the 2012 Toyota Corolla include power doors and windows, Multi-function in-key remote keyless entry system with lock, unlock, trunk release, panic and remote illuminated entry features, Multi-information Display with outside temperature, instant fuel economy, average fuel economy, average speed and travel distance. The 2012 Corolla LE model has all of these features but adds on Fabric-trimmed six-way adjustable drivers seat; four-way adjustable front passenger seat with seatback pocket and a Tilt/telescopic steering wheel with metallic accents and audio controls. The S model offers better double stitched seats to offer more reliable and comfortable seats.

Both the LE and S models offer AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability. They come equipped with six speakers, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod connectivity, auto sound leveling, hands-free phone capability, phone book access, and iPod interface (source: pressroom.toyota.com)
Safety Features
Toyota, like usual, went all out on their safety features and equipped the 2012 Corolla with its Star Safety System which includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology (SST). Other notable safety features include a Tire Pressure Monitor System, Daytime running lights, a Head-impact protection structure, smart stop technology and an Engine immobilizer.
Verdict
Well folks, just as we thought the 2012 Toyota Corolla did not disappoint. It provided a simple look that’s easy on the eyes, a very affordable price, and a great ride that comes jam packed with interior and safety features. If you are looking for those qualities in a vehicle then put the 2012 Corolla on your list of cars to test drive this year.

Prius C will offer 53 mpg for under $19,000

2012 DETROIT AUTO SHOW COVERAGE

Toyota Prius C. | January 10, 2012

DETROIT – During the 2012 Detroit Auto Show Toyota Motor Corp. announce its plans to expand its current hybrid vehicle lineup with the addition of the subcompact Prius C hatchback. The Prius
C is expected to go on sale in March.

The Prius C’s addition to the family follows the Prius V wagon that came in late 2011, and the Plug-In Prius that is scheduled to arrive this summer. It shows Toyota’s desire to create a Prius for everyone, with the Prius C being designed towards younger buyers who seek great fuel mileage at a lesser price for their first cars.
Toyota stated that the Prius C will get a whooping 53 mpg in the city, the highest city fuel economy of any vehicle (aside from plug- ins). Its highway fuel economy is 46 mpg (not as good as city mpg, but that’s normal for hybrids), giving the Prius C a combined 50 mpg rating.
Toyota also announced that the Prius C will be priced below $19,000 before destination charges.
The Prius C will differ from the standard model in the way that it will have a six-inch shorter wheelbase, it is 19 inches shorter overall, and it is much lighter (The Prius C weighs about 550 pounds less than the standard model).
The Prius C’s gasoline engine is of smaller displacement (1.5 liters vs. 1.8 liters on the standard Prius). It clocks in at 99 HP between the 73 HP Atkinson cycle engine and the hybrid motors.
The Prius C has the ability to be driven in battery-only mode for just about one mile at a driving speed up to 25 mph.
The Prius C’s decrease in size did not mean a decrease in safety and gadgets. It features nine airbags, 15-inch wheels, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, automatic climate control and remote keyless locks with illuminated entry.
The base audio system will feature a CD player as well as USB port with iPod connectivity. The Prius C will also feature hands-free phone capability, Bluetooth music streaming, and phone book access.

Toyota Unveils a New & Updated 2013 Land Cruiser

Updated Land Cruiser Sure to Please Toyota Consumers
January 6, 2012- Toyota issued a press release unveiling plans for its 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser and we have to admit, we cannot be happier with the changes. Some of the announced improvements noted by Toyota include:

• Updated Exterior Styling
• Standard Premium HDD Navigation System With Entune™ Multi-media
• New Dynamic Performance and Safety Features
• Popular Options Become Standard Equipment

For the 2013 model year, Toyota’s Land Cruiser will receive improvements to their exterior and interior styling. The slight visual enhancements added to the Land Cruiser’s exterior include new LED running lamps on the front of the vehicle, HID low-beam headlamps and a re-done grille.

Additionally the 2013 Land Cruiser will now come with all of its popular features as standard equipment. Some of the new standard equipment on the Land Cruiser includes new driving performance features, and an array of significant safety and convenience features.

Toyota also went above and beyond for their consumers by including many of the popular features that were formerly available as optional packages, and making them standard for the 2013 model. Some of these “straight to standard” options include a back seat DVD entertainment system, a color-keyed rear spoiler, the inclusion of rain-sensing windshield wipers (which we thought were really cool), a center-console cooler box (Perfect to keep drinks cold during road trips or during park outings).

Other “straight to standard” features include headlamp cleaners, leather-trimmed steering wheel, multi-information display, voice and Bluetooth® hands-free controls and heated second row seats to keep your passengers nice and toasty. The coolest “straight to standard” feature, in our opinion, is the 2013 Land Cruiser’s inclusion of Toyota's Premium Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Navigation with Entune multi-media system and JBL® audio.

Under the hood the 2013 Land Cruiser is not much different than previous models.  Its 5.7-liter V8 engine is carried over unchanged, but with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque at its driver’s disposal, we didn’t see a need to change anything.

The 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser will include driving aids like KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) and Multi-Terrain Select as standard equipment, additions that will make off road fans very happy.

We are very excited to get our hands on the 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser, set to release in February 2012.
